Testosterone is a hormone produced by the human body, mainly in men’s testicles. It stimulates the production of sperm and the sex drive of men. Also, it helps in building muscle and bone mass. Typically, the production of testosterone decreases as men age. Men with low testosterone experience some symptoms. Low testosterone is diagnosed when levels drop below the normal range. To determine the level of testosterone, a blood test is done. And while there can be a good testosterone clinic for men available, synthetic testosterone is available. Signs of low testosterone are usually subtle and include the following.
Low Sex Drive
Testosterone is necessary for the libido in both men and women. Men are likely to experience some drop in sex drive when they age. But, somebody who has low testosterone will experience a more drastic decline in his desire to take part in a sexual activity. Also, low testosterone decreases women’s sex drive which can also be influenced by other factors such as mood and hormonal changes.
Difficulty Achieving Erection
Testosterone will stimulate the sex drive of men. Also, it helps achieving an erection. The hormone alone does not cause an erection; however, it stimulates brain receptors to produce nitric oxide which helps in triggering an erection. If the levels of testosterone are low, a man may not easily achieve an erection before sex or experience spontaneous erections during sleep.
Low Semen Volume
The hormone plays a role in semen production. When a man has more testosterone, he will be able to produce more semen. Men that have low testosterone will notice a decrease in sperm volume during ejaculation.
Lack of Energy and Fatigue
Men who have low testosterone have reported fatigue and a decrease in the levels of energy. Men may experience symptoms when they are tired all of the time even if they got plenty of sleep or when they find it more difficult to get motivated to exercise or go to the gym.
Hair Loss
Testosterone is necessary for various body functions that include the production of hair. For men, balding is a natural part of aging. But men who have low testosterone is likely to experience facial and body hair loss.
