Where should women look when they are trying to lose weight and transform their bodies? Let’s start with a word of caution about fitness scams to avoid:
Scam #1 Ab Machines
It seems like the infomercial world constantly cranks out new machines that are designed to develop the abdominal muscles. Commercials will promise a flat, sexy stomach for just a few easy payments of 20 bucks (or more). There are a couple of issues with such products. First, you have to remember that abdominal training really is not the key to having a flat stomach. It’s fine to train your abdominal and core muscles, but this kind of training doesn’t really burn that many calories. There’s something else you need to keep in mind: most abdominal machines you see advertised on TV are overpriced. You’d do just as well to buy an exercise ball if you really are looking for something to help you exercises these muscles.
Scam #2 “Fat Burner” Supplements
Walk into any health food or drug store and you’ll see shelves filled with “fat burning” supplements, some of them of which are supposed to help women with their specific issues (hormones, etc.). Here’s the truth: most of these supplements are just caffeine tablets. Yes, there are a few other ingredients mixed in, but most of these are not really proven to help in any way with fat loss. You would probably get the same results by pouring yourself a cup of coffee.
What Really Helps:
I would recommend you find a diet and nutrition plan designed specifically for women if you want to lose weight and get your body ready for swimsuit season (or a special occasion). Buying a digital/online program is a lot cheaper than hiring a personal trainer and should give you everything you need to guide you through the process of body transformation. You can check out some Venus Factor reviews (or even look at video reviews) if you are interested in learning more about that specific program, but I’ll share a few things to look for in a good workout and nutrition plan
You should look for a program that is customizable. Not every woman has the same body type or goals, so you look for something that will allow you to adjust the diet to your specific needs.
There should be an emphasis on weight training. Women who do resistance training usually have success in losing fat and shaping their bodies. Lifting weights should be your first step if you are trying to get a better body–it will help you keep your lean muscle mass while losing fat. It will also help you develop curves in all the right places.
A good plan should include some form of cardiovascular (“cardio”) work. Cardio will help you burn even more calories every week than just lifting weights alone. It is an important piece of the overall puzzle for fitness.
Last but not least, you need a good diet/nutrition guide if you desire to lose weight. Exercise (cardio and weights) is important, but you simply cannot lose fat without adjusting your eating habits. You have to consume fewer calories than you use in order for your body to tap into fat stores–that’s the simple, undeniable reality.
Hopefully this article will help you avoid the scams and find a good weight loss program.
