Causes of Hair Loss in Women

For a woman, losing hair can be a very disastrous thing. Many women like to keep long hair. Therefore, losing large chunks of hair can be an alarming sign. If large chunks of hair tend to fall out every time you comb your hair or run your hand through your head, you need to take remedial action right away. Most women are still quite worried about why their hair begins to fall off at such an early age whereas others are able to maintain a full head of hair even as they grow old.

Scientists and researchers have been studying the causes of female hair loss for many years, but with little to no avail. For most people who suffer from premature hair loss, pinpointing the exact cause can be next to impossible. Despite the best efforts of scientists and researchers from around the globe, there is no “one” reason for hair loss. In fact, there are several different causes that scientists have determined which lead to hair loss. Here are some of the main causes.

    Stress

Have you ever heard the phrase, “my hair’s falling out thinking about this?” Well, scientists have realised that there’s truth to the statement. Physical and mental stress can cause hair to fall out, according to a particular study. Physical trauma of any kind, such as a surgery, a car accident, or even contracting a flu virus, can lead to hair loss for a brief period of time.

    Protein Deficiency

Your body requires adequate amounts of protein to function properly. Hair growth is fuelled by protein. However, if your body doesn’t get enough protein, it will compensate by shutting down the hair growth function. If you are losing hair rapidly on a daily basis, you need to take a long, hard look at your diet plan. Are you consuming enough protein on a daily basis? There are many natural sources of protein, such as chicken, lean meats, and more, that you can take to increase your protein intake.

    Genetics

Arguably the most important cause of hair loss is hereditary. If there’s a history of hair loss in your family, there’s a very high chance that you will begin to lose hair from an early age as well. There’s nothing you can do about genetics—it’s just how it is. However, you can take a few remedial steps to minimise the chances of hair loss. For instance, you can work on your diet and make sure that you exercise on a regular basis to maintain a healthy head of hair.

Normally, women tend to lose anywhere between 50 to 100 hairs in a day. However, in ideal circumstances, these hairs are replaced by the human body regularly. If you are losing hair at a rapid rate, you should visit a doctor right away. Several hair loss treatment centres offer different kinds of treatment plans as well. You can schedule an appointment with the doctor online or over the phone.
